The way to make yourself pleasing to others is to show that you care for them..The seeds of love can never grow but under the warm and genial influence of kind feelings and affectionate manners.

Want to be an expert? Go back to square 1
In some martial arts traditions, as I understand it, when you achieve your black belt--in theory the "highest" rank possible--you go back and start your training over again. Why? Because, as I learned when I took tae kwon do for a time, you're only as good as your fundamentals. The advanced students were always right t

Untitled
Life is good
"When we awaken to the evolutionary impulse, we realize a completely new relationship to what it means to be alive and what it means to be ourselves here and now. Not only do we discover a freedom to be ourselves that we've never known before, but even more importantly we find a reason for living with intense commitment and liberated passion that gives us an incomparable sense of personal, philosophical, and spiritual self-confidence. We suddenly begin to understand, in ways that both include and transcend our intellect, that the reason we are here on Earth (once all of our basic survival needs have been met) is not merely to experience security, comfort, pleasure, or even peace of mind but to develop. We realize that we are here to consciously evolve, to intentionally do anything and everything we can to unleash all of the extraordinary creative potential within so that the human race's next step can, in some small but not insignificant way, emerge through us."

Would you rather take a picture or have your picture taken?
I love to take pictures. I'm always behind the camera, so almost all of my pictures are without me in them. The few pictures I have of myself are ok but I don't like or dislike them. I have a few family photos online; there's a link in my profile, but they're mostly just pictures snapped on the go. I also take professional pictures of friends who are willing to model. By the way, film is better.
I love to take pictures because it captures a moment in time. I especially love shooting my children because there are so many little moments that I can remember from looking at pictures that I otherwise might have forgotten. What people take pictures of also shows you how they look at the world and what they consider important.

One time I watched In Good Company by myself and cried when Dennis Quaid had to fire his friends. I cry a lot during the feel good ABC shows like Extreme Makeover Home Edition.

I always enjoy watching the Fiesta Bowl, Sugar Bowl and obviously the National Championship. I just don't think anyone in the country can stop that Oregon offense.
1. Understand thoroughly what is to be remembered and/or memorized
2. Spot what is to be memorized verbatim. It is a good plan to use a special marking symbol in text and notebook to indicate parts and passages, rules, data, and all other information that is to be memorized instead of just understood and remembered
3. If verbatim memory is required, go over the material or try to repeat at odd times.
4. Think about what you are trying to learn. Find an interest in the material if you wish to memorize it with ease.
5. Study first the items that you want to remember longest.
6. Learn complete units at one time, as that is the way it will have to be recalled.
7. Overlearn to make certain.
8. Analyze material and strive to intensify the impressions the material makes.
9. Use concrete imagery whenever possible. Close your eyes and get a picture of the explanation and summary answer. Try to see it on the page. See the key words underlined.

One major trend we have seen is the obsessiveness that young couples can have. Here are some ideas to be aware of:
1) Low self-esteem causes different behavior
If teenagers, or anyone has low self-esteem it can cause them to be more desperate for connection or control. Teenagers, developmentally tend to have lower self-esteem as their bodies change. Low self-esteem can also cause couples to be more jealous and needy of each other, which can be a precursor to abuse.
2) Control can be addictive
I talk to teenagers all day long about what they are anxious about. Many of them feel very out of control and this scares them. Teens tend to rarely be in control; rather they are usually being controlled. They are controlled by parents, teachers, principles, counselors, coaches, colleges and bosses. What they can control is another teenager and this can over extension of control can be a form of abuse.

What celebrity would you most like to meet in person?
There are many fascinating people I'd really like to spend time with. Some are long since departed, and the average person isn't likely to come into contact with most of the truly influential, or great-minded people of our time.
If you could, though, who would it be?
What celebrity would you most like to meet in person?
Jesus - the perfect reflection of God and the wisest and most loving man to walk the earth - I'd like to learn fom him directly.
Adam, the first man on earth - I'd like to know what it was like to be him and what he was thinking when he rebelled against God and I'd like him to see the misery his choice has caused,
and...
who else... Oh yes Bezalel. From the Bible account of the construction of the Ark of the Covenant, Jehovah himself appointed Bezalel and promised to “fill him with the spirit of God in wisdom and in understanding and in knowledge and in every kind of craftsmanship, for designing devices, for working in gold and silver and copper, and in working of stones to set them and in working of wood to make products of every kind.” (Ex 31:3-5; 35:30-33). I love working with metal, and although I am a qualified jeweller and silversmith I know absolutely nothing about the subject compared to what is possible. That would be amazing!

If you had to legally change your name, what would you change it to?
If you want to change your name you do not have to change it legally. You can just decide what you would like your name to be and then tell people like your family, friends, employer and co-workers that you would like them to call you by the new name. This is called changing your name by common usage. Once people have begun to call you by that name, you can have your identification changed to your new name; you might need to make an oath stating that people now call you by your new name for some identification changes. Also, you can change your signature to your new name and put your new name on legal documents. Remember that you can not change your name if you are trying to get out of having to pay money back that you owe, or for any other fraudulent reason. You can make an application to change your name under the Change of Name Act if you want to legally change your name. Making a legal name change is the only way to get a new birth certificate with your new name on it. To change your name legally you must be at least 18 years old and you must be a resident of Alberta. You can get an application form to legally change your name by going to any Alberta Registries office. For the location nearest you, check the yellow pages of the phone book under License and Registry Services. You will have to fill out an application and return it to a registry office with the required fees. Fees are collected by your local law enforcement agency to obtain your fingerprints. Fees are also collected by the registry agent for the provincial government name change fee, fingerprint registry fee, and a registry agent service fee. Check with your local law enforcement agency and local registry office for current fee amounts. You can also change your name by completing a deed poll, which is a formal declaration stating that you now want to be called by a new name. Changing your name with a deed poll is not a legal name change but it is more formal than just changing your name with common usage and it may be easier to get new identification issued under your new name if you have prepared a deed poll.

What's the last good book you read?
I'm currently reading the New Annotated Dracula. I own and have read the original book, but I'm enjoying re-reading with all the notes and extras. And the 4th edition of Drug War Facts, which I've read before. For some reason I can't remember what I was reading before this, but one of the last was Drood by Dan Simmons. It's got really mixed reviews from what I've seen, but I liked it.
Next, I'll probably read The Silmarillion by Tolkien. I haven't read that one yet, and borrowed it from my grandma. Or maybe some Neil Gaiman, because he's one of my favorite authors.

What's your favorite quality about yourself?
My favorite quality is my high level of patience!
My favorite quality in others is their generosity!
What's the first thing you think of when you wake up in the morning?
What time is it? (I'm usually up at 4 or so, and I have a set schedule to get ready for work. I stick to it closely). My internal alarm clock was goofy some of this week--daylight savings time and I had to get ourselves in sync. What day is it? (No need to be in week-day mode on the weekends!).Where are my glasses? (I've been known to fall asleep with them on, the light on, and the book open. I've also been known to take them off and PUT them somewhere in my sleep, and then, finding them the next morning, in the dark, without my glasses, is a real trick.)
Then it's up and getting to what I need to do for the day.
Your mind, on the other hand IS you--so you can only blame yourself for your thoughts. SOunds to me like you're morning experience is not only not sinful, it's perfectly normal, and something that you'll outgrow as you get older. DOn't sweat the small stuff.

If you could eat at any restaurant in the world tonight, which one would you choose?
The Crab Pot Restaurant in Seattle, WA. I've never been to that restaurant specifically. I've been to a couple other great seafood restaurants there that were amazing. I've heard great things about The Crab Pot and have wanted to go back to Seattle some day so I could eat there! I love seafood, but crab is probably one of my favorites! Shrimp is a close second!

What's the first thing that you usually notice about someone you meet?
It depends on the person.
Now people take me two ways...
Some more confident people feel comfortable around me, i make jokes take the mick out of myself, however some people who believe themselves to be superior take my jokes for being cocky.
Most people see that im comfortable with myself but im not loud or in your face, i try to be friendly and smile but if someone does not act friendly back they wont get another chance :P

Do you think Watson will win on Jeopardy or do you think man will triumph over machine?
While I am a huge fan of technology, I hope that Watson is defeated. My reasoning is that we have so many people in this world today who refuse to think for themselves, it’s just incredibly daunting to me that we may one day not be reqiured to think at all.

who is your valentine?
The day of love is approaching and the celebrations have begun! Friends and Lovers alike are ready to express their feelings for each other. The Year of the Rabbit indicates inner growth and personal expansion. Why not take the cue from the Rabbit and send a message of love to yourself. Why not be your own first Valentine?
This year let us “redefi ne” our relationship with ourselves. Spend some time investigating our thoughts and finding inner beauty. Let us know, what we love about ourselves most! We are like a puzzle and you will be surprised, what fun it can be, when you commit to play and solve the biggest puzzle of your life ...Yourself!!
We are organic beings, we are not stagnant. We grow all the time, though unconsciously and in ways that we do not even know. What happens when a seed falls to the ground? It takes root and just starts to grow, it doesn’t die. But had we planted that seed and looked after the sapling, it would have probably grown into a tree that we wanted. The “fate” of a random seed and a “planted” seed is never the same. One just grows and the other grows into a healthy tree.
It is the same with us, human beings. How many seeds are we carrying with us which have been planted unconsciously? Is everything about us consciously chosen by us? We carry thoughts, hurts, pains which are not our own. Today, we can choose to plant ourselves anew with an intent that we grow into fascinating human beings. Let us find out which of our thoughts are ours and which do not belong to us. Let us pledge, that we will plant only “that” in our life which will make us happy and loving.
Life is a friend and it has been with us for as long as we have been alive. It is Life which has let us live experiences. Sometimes, it offers more than we can take and sometimes less than what we want. But it stays with us as a friend, it gives us an identity and it gives us a destination. Life wants us to live and experience the joys it brings. Don’t we also want the same thing?
So, why don’t we get together with life, love it and love ourselves for living it. Life is to be lived and not to be gone through. Often, much time is spent cursing life and its difficulties. This approach can never make us loving or happy. As much as we expect things from life, life wants us to “live” it. Why don’t we “experience life fully with an open heart and mind”? It begins with us!
Today, stand out of yourself, look at yourself and smile. Tell yourself, you love yourself as you are. That from this day you will keep getting better. That, you would love to be perfect, and master yourself, you would want to live like a fully functioning being and you believe you can do that.
This year focus on who you are ...and not what you do. The better the “who”, the better will be the “what”. Look deeper into everything about yourself and your life. You are far bigger and deeper than what is visible on the surface. Your actions, your emotions, your thoughts, your feelings and the faith in your own ability to change the way you live your life is there within you.
Our inner self has to be continuously evolving, that is the only way to grow. We have the same opportunity.
It is available to us every moment but we do not use it. You do not have to be a Victim of Life, you should be the Victor of Life. Let life bring to you anything, if you are aware that it is about your own growth, you will be able to face it with a smile. Your growth will be a process, it will not happen in a day, in months or even years. But if you commit and “plant” yourself today ... water yourself, weed yourself, see enough sunshine ... there is no way you will not turn into a beautiful tree.
Let all of us “plant” ourselves today and not “throw” ourselves to grow in any direction that life takes us, but grow only in the direction we want it to take. You should not be “thrown” around, for you are “invaluable”, to your own self. You can lift yourself, “plant” yourself and enjoy yourselves growing!!! The journey will be fantastic, for you know you are aiming at being a beautiful “tree”, however, much time it takes time.
There is no need to be puzzled anymore. We are simple beings who need to be living with a resolved self. Our part of the “living” would be to know what we want from life. Our part of “happiness” would be when we can truly identify when we are close to what we want. We will feel “love” when we receive what we want. We will be fulfilled and joyful when we feel grateful for what we have received.
Today is the day of Commitment ... Let us commit to change the way we have been living. Let us commit
to our own well being, our life. Let us commit to our own growth as an absolute must for our own happiness.
Let us commit to love and grow ourselves. If you have not yet thought of making your life and living more meaningful, enjoyable and full of love, why not do it in this month of love! Why not make a beginning! With each change, the same life is going to respond in a new way. We need to make the beginning to love ourselves and be your own first Valentine!
If you could move to any foreign country, where would you move to?
I guess I have to go back to basics. I guess everyone is differant, I have no desire to be part of a Haiten culture or any other culture for that matter. If I were to move to a foreign country, which I considered Chile, I would try to assume their culture as it is their country. I am all for multi culture but have found it is pretty much a one way street and "birds of a feather, flock together" seems to be a pretty much a standard. Back to areas to move to, you have to understand, Florida is not a State but a Foriegn Country. Southern Florida is so diverse in culture, you can not say it is like any other stae in the United States. I believe northern Florida is still culturally not over run with diversity and hopefully they can retain their "southern roots". I guess it all boils down to life style, if you like an international cosmopolitian life style head south, if you want Florida for what it was and is, head north. Pretty simple, huh? Now 20 years ago I may have gone with the cultural diversity, now I see it more as a simple "AMERICAN" way of life.??

open-minded
Usually, I'm a very closed person. I don't get overly emotional, I tend to repress my feelings. I bottle them up inside, letting them tear away at my soul for decades. Everyone that has seen Oprah knows this is bad.
It was my method of coping, keeping things to myself. It was a very self destructive habit, hurting myself and others - so I intend to change things. I'm turning my life around, starting anew. I've joined AA, yoga and a baseball team. Everything is looking up and I've never felt this good.
For these reasons and because God told me to, I've decided to make this a day of showing my cards, and share the most painful experience in my life with the world. I no longer wish to keep such things to myself. I need this off my chest. This requires a little bit of background, so bear with me.
It all started on a regular morning, and I was preparing for work. It was the same old schedule, nothing special about it.
I was a running a little late so I diverged from the usual routine and decided to do a little bit more multitasking than usual. In my rush I was frantically running around the house brushing my teeth - I probably looked pretty ridiculous. Trying to find your keys, put on socks and practice good dental hygiene in the same second is quite the feat.
Then, the unexpected happened and my world changed forever.
For you see, this wad of fluoride goo wanted out fast. I needed to sneeze like there was no tomorrow and I had no choice in the matter. But there was no appropriate destination in sight for this flight of mucus.
In my pseudo wisdom, it was determined that my best course of action was to halt all attempts of exodus of the slimy crap. It was my only real choice, but it also turned out to be a horrendously poor option. It was if the conglomeration of Colgate launched an full-on assault at my throat and ears simultaneously. I'm not exactly sure what happened after this, as my mind ceased to function for a period of time.
After regaining some sense, I knew I never was going to be the same man again. It has irreparably changed my life, leaving me to pick up the pieces.
I have seen and will see a lot of tragedy and heartbreak in my life, but this assuredly will remain as the worst memory of my entire life. The horror, the agony, the madness. Just thinking of it makes me choke up.
Be glad if you haven't been so unfortunate to have experienced sneezing while brushing your teeth.
If you do happen to be a fellow sneeze-brushing survivor, I feel for you, brother. You ought to come out to our Monday peer-help sessions at the local church.
Please, stay clean, stay safe, and be careful when brushing.
If you could move to any foreign country, where would you move to?
I seem to think Dubai would be a good time, but I think I'd like to take advantage of either South Africa or Hong Kong, and take advantage of the underdeveloped internet markets.
Of course I would never turn down Ireland.

president Kennedy
Public interest in the assassination of President John F. Kennedy has never died down. People around the world want to know who killed the president and why and how he died. They also want to know what the killer's hidden motives might have been, and whether he had acted alone. Their insistent questions led to the formation of the House Select Committee on Assassinations, a congressional group.
In 1978, the House Select Committee came to a conclusion that many un-official investigators had already reached: that the president's slaying was the result of a conspiracy. As we have already seen, a conspiracy means that two or more persons were involved in a criminal act.
Until that time, the Warren Commissioned Report, originally released in September 1964, was the only official one. The report stated that a solitary gunman named Lee Harvey Oswald was responsible. Working alone, he shot and killed the president. Oswald was soon captured and held by the Dallas, Texas, police for two days. Then Oswald himself was slain as he was being transferred from one jail to another. Oswald's slayer was Jack Ruby.
The Warren Commission decided that Ruby acted for twisted emotional reasons and that he, too, acted alone. There was no conspiracy involved in either case. So said the Warren Commission.
The House Select Committee's declaration of conspiracy inspired a rash of books and at least two movies, as well as several TV programs. New ones keep popping up, well into the 1990's. Each book and movie has asserted that its analysis is the only foolproof one. As yet, however, none of these has been accepted as offering all the right answers.
Let's look at some of these accumulated ideas and theories, and perhaps come to some conclusions of our own. Bear in mind that some of these assertions and accusations sound highly believable. But remember, too, that no charges have been filed against anyone, and no arrests have been made. Will there be any in the future, you ask? Perhaps so; perhaps not.
The president was riding in his open limousine, his back to the Texas School Book Depository, where, on the sixth floor, Oswald was said to have been perched. His rifle, propped up by book cartons, was aimed directly at the back of the president's head.
Ahead and to the right of the president's motorcade was the grassy knoll. There many spectators stood, ready to cheer the president as he passed by. Among them, another gunman may have been waiting for HIS chance to fire.
Oswald was accused of firing several shots from his position in the Texas School Book Depository. Two of these struck the president in the back of the head. But a third shot is said to have entered the president's throat, just above his Adam's apple, and emerged through the back of his neck.
Did this third shot actually go from the front of his neck to the back? Doctor's at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, where the dying president was taken, and doctors at the Bethesda Naval Hospital, where the dead president was AGAIN examined, disagree. The Parkland groups say there was an entry wound in his throat. The Bethesda group, on the other hand, says there was an EXIT wound in his throat.
Many spectators standing on the grassy knoll at the time of the slaying reported hearing at least one rifle shot fired from nearby. They also reported seeing as many as four men hurrying away from the back of the knoll as soon as the shots were fired. The Warren investigators quizzed several of these witnesses but came to no conclusion.
Oswald may have indeed fired the shots that killed the president, but there is no clear-cut evidence that he ALONE did so. Nor was he even definitely linked with the sixth-floor window from where the shots were fired. Only minutes after the shooting, he was drinking a Coca-Cola. Could he have left the firing site and composed himself so quickly? Here's another factor to consider: firing a cheap rifle, as Oswald did, should have left a powder burn on his cheek. After Oswald was arrested, his cheek was examined: no such powder burn was found!

Teaching Philosophy, Strategies, and Objectives
1. Purpose
One of the most difficult questions I’ve ever been faced with as a teacher is also one of the most common, “when am I ever going to use this?” For most students this question is a roadblock, which inhibits further progress until the question is answered to their satisfaction. I used to be frustrated by this problem, because no matter how I tried, some students were never happy with the answers I gave them. What business did they have asking questions about subject matter, anyway? Wasn’t it their job just to sit and take notes? They don’t need reasons; they just need to learn it. I now realize how wrong I was and am endeavoring to change my viewpoint, as well as my goals and my methods.
I believe it is the right, perhaps even the duty, of every student to ask a question such as the one above, to demand some level of accountability from his or her education. I find myself asking, “when did I really learn the material from Intermediate Algebra?” It wasn’t in high school, although I received A’s, it was in my junior year of college when I had to teach it to 30 students. I’ve had so many fellow teachers relate similar experiences. “You really learn something when you have to teach it,” they'll say, but why is that? I believe it is because there is a purpose behind the material. In other words, there are important and immediate reasons for learning. If that is the way I myself learned, how can I not respect the desires of my students to have the same goals and foundations for their own learning experiences? To that end, something fundamental needs to change in America’s basic mathematics curriculum.
So many students attend twelve years of school in this country, yet have no idea how the things they learned apply to anything else. They have been forced to learn tiny chunks of material, all the while being told that the bits and pieces will be connected later on by some other teacher or class. Mathematics is so rarely taught with anything remotely resembling real-life applications, that students in my Math 131 class openly balk when they realize this course has them modeling real data in every chapter. It is not our job, as educators, to teach material in the vain hopes that it will all come together later. It is our job to create citizens of this country, what’s more, of the world. By that, I mean citizens in every sense of the word. People who will know how to solve problems, say "no" to telemarketers, put money in a savings account, give back to their communities, vote intelligently, and perhaps most importantly, be responsible for their own actions.
Far too often we don’t teach to our children the basic skills they will need to survive in our own society. Maybe educators were hoping children would learn how to write résumés, finish income taxes, and pay bills by osmosis. After all, why should such mundane topics be taught when there are four years of French to take? Don’t get me wrong, I speak French fluently and love the language, but it’s possible that there were some more fundamental things I should’ve learned along the way in my education. For example, I never learned how to change my car’s oil or what a “piston” is. I will own a car almost everyday for the rest of my life, but I have no idea how it runs. Meanwhile, I can translate any French writings, which has come in handy about twice so far since I graduated from high school.
That is not to say that only things that are immediately applicable to everyday life are worth teaching or learning. On the contrary, some of the most illuminating and enriching topics have few purposes beyond the academic sphere, but purely intellectual learning is not for everyone. Not every student is the same, nor should they be treated as if they were. Each student is an individual with a unique mix of strengths and weaknesses, with different backgrounds and distinct goals in life. Yet often we fail to recognize this truth as educators. We treat each pupil as if they were a glass, the same size and shape as every other glass, a

Would you rather buy brand name items, or generic brand?
Purchasing generic products instead of brand-named products is an easy way to save money, but many people wonder if generic products are truly as good as their expensive counterparts. There must be a reason behind the increased price of brand-named products, right? Are brand-named products really the same as generic products? Well, the answer has to be a resounding yes followed by a quiet no. In most cases I have found that generic products are every bit as good as brand-named products. The generic versions of staple products, paper goods and medications are almost exactly the same as the brand-named versions once you get their wrappers or packaging off. I’ve mentioned before that we use many of the Target store brands with success. So, why would you ever spend the extra cash?I can’t remember the last time I bought Tylenol rather than a store brand of acetaminophen. Likewise, I always buy store branded toilet paper, flour, and bread. I even buy generic versions of my favorite household cleaners. My theory is that if my family can’t tell the difference between the two products and the generic products works just as well as the brand-named product, I should always purchase the generic product.Occasionally, I do find a product that’s generic version doesn’t quite live up to the quality of its brand-named version. For me, it’s macaroni and cheese. Kraft’s macaroni and cheese is hands-down better than the generic version. I can taste the difference, and so can my kids. Fortunately, Kraft mac and cheese is often on sale for a price that is comparable to the price of generic mac and cheese. I simply stock up on the brand-named version while it’s on sale.
I believe that the best way to use generic products is to buy them when you can’t tell the difference between them and their brand-named counterparts (which is most of the time). Over time the savings you will enjoy by buying generic products will really start to add up. Then, you won’t feel guilty when you decide to splurge on the handful of brand-named products that your family really enjoys.

Would you quit eating all junk food to live five years longer?
Well that depends on what is considered junk food...People who say they never eat junk food may mean they never eat the basic junk food or the junk that triggered them. My dad for example used to be overweight and there are certain foods that trigger him to eat more (which is donuts) so he hardly ever eats donuts...he hasn't had one in over 7 years. But he still eats cake, ice cream and cookies a couple times a week. Right now he is a normal weight- he exercises daily for a couple hours and eats really healthy but still has junk food. And also people who cut out ice cream, cakes and cookies and donuts completely- prob still have certain sweets they eat. Because truthfully it is almost impossible to avoid "junk food" forever and ever. If you need to loose weight- you want to cut out junk from your diet but still allow yourself to eat it sometimes.
Stick to mainly fruits and veggies and whole grains along w/ fat free dairy and lean proteins (turkey breast, grilled or broiled chicken, salmon, tuna and eggs and soy are all good). as for junk avoid as much as possible- but never deprive yourself.
