I'm with you, how can ESPN say that a guy whose nickname was "THE MAN" be the most underrated athlete of all time? Kinda ridiculous.

Your list doesn't have any hockey players. I'll give you one, Ron Francis. Mario Lemieux may have been the best player ever not named Wayne, but he didn't get to touch the Cup until Francis came over in a trade, then he won two in a row.
